History of the League
The Shelby County Schools Basketball League was started by Founder and Executive Director of the Gentlemen's League and Principal at Bruce Elementary School, Mr. Archie M. Moss, Jr. Mr. Moss piloted the idea of a league in the Fall pf 2017 when he approached a few of his colleagues: Mr. Key Coleman (Cummings K-8 School), Mr. Jonathan Humphrey (Lucy ES), Mr. Antonio Harvey (Hawkins Mill ES). Each school decided to create a basketball team and play friendly games.
Word began to spread across the district, and schools began to express interest in joining the league. In Spring 2018, Principal Moss created Shelby County Schools first ever Elementary Basketball League. The Spring 2019 League consisted of 24 SCS Elementary Schools who were placed in four divisions (Central, South, East, and North). Each school played 10 games and the top four schools advanced to the playoffs. The Spring 2019 winners of the league was Lucy Elementary School. The League will consist of a Fall and Spring League.
